A world to discover outside your front door
Mellau is on the banks of the Mellenbach, at the foot of the Kanisfluh mountain range. This small municipality is an ideal base to explore the 2,000km of hiking trails, which range from pushchair-friendly paths to Alpine climbing routes. All these trails, plus the spectacular skiing area of Mellau-Damüls, can be reached via mountain railways. Come summer or winter, there’s plenty to do for all the family: golf, skiing, paragliding and more. Or just relax in the calmness of the mountain scenery.
Once you’ve visited, you will never really leave
For many decades, the people of the Bregenzerwald have preserved their building traditions. You will never find a building that looks out of place here.
An appreciation of quality
The Bregenzerwald region is home to about 30,000 people - known as the Wälder - living in 22 municipalities. The Wälder are proud of their roots, but also open to new ideas. Their homes are a perfect combination of design and tradition.
Small but mighty
There are dozens of sights worth seeing in the area. Here are a few suggestions:

Juppenmuseum in Riefensberg
Snow-white slopes and sunny hiking routes
